Catechism At Santi Apostoli

 

In order to help English speaking children (and adults) to prepare for the sacraments of Confession, First Communion and Confirmation we offer opportunities for various age groups. If you or your children are interested in preparing for the sacraments or continuing to deepen in your knowledge and love of the faith, please consider the catechetical programs we offer. 

 

Programs

Pre-catechism

This program is for 6 and 7 year olds in preparation for starting the specific two year preparation for First Communion. Meetings are only once a month according to our calendar that will sent to you once you have registered. Meetings begin in January and go through May. 

 

First Communion

This program is a two year program for 8-10 year olds. Meetings are WEEKLY on Sundays at 11:30am, according to our calendar that will be sent to you once you have signed up. Meetings begin in October and go through May, The date for First Communions are in May. 

 

Confirmation

This program is a two year program for 10-12 year olds. Meetings are WEEKLY on Sundays at 11:30am, according to a calendar our calendar that will be sent to you once you have signed up. Meetings begin in October and go through May. The date for Confirmation is generally the Sunday of Pentecost. 

Adult Preparation for Sacraments 

If you are 18 years of age of older and would like to receive the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation please contact Fr Kramer Cameron at kcameron@legionaries.org

Here is a list of general expectations and requirements.

  • To sign up you will need to fill in the Registration form. 

  • All participants in the First Communion or Confirmation programs must provide a copy of their Baptismal certificates.

  • All families should regularly attend our community Mass at Santi Apostoli at 10:30am on Sundays. 

  • Students are expected to complete all homework assignments and learn required prayers.

  • Parents are to read the material with your children and assist them in learning.

  • Students will attend classes from October – May and must participate in 80% of the classes in order to move on. See below for the Calendar.

  • The curriculum for the class will include age appropriate material to help deepen in their understanding of God and his love for them, the celebration of our faith, the sacraments and liturgy, and the daily living out of these beliefs through virtues and prayer, especially in service of others.  In a particular way students will also be taught the meaning of Mass and its rituals as well as the importance of faith at home and in the parish. 

  • We welcome a recommended donation €50 to help cover the extra costs of our activities, the teaching materials, textbooks, certificates and supplies during the year.
